I started my virtual ride across Canada in December 2023 to support ALS Canada and raise awareness about ALS. Earlier this year, in April, I had to pause my virtual ride across Canada due to my physical decline. At the time, I had completed 3,740 km or 50%. In June, I gave a talk about ALS awareness to the Rotary Whitby Sunrise chapter and mentioned how I had to pause my ride. A few of the Rotary members took it upon themselves to figure out how they could help me fulfill my virtual cross-Canada ride.
On Saturday November 8th 2025, we will be launching an event at Windreach Farm in Ashburn Ontario, just north of Whitby, to allow people to help contribute to completing the remaining distance and fulfill my cross-Canada journey. As with many things, it takes a village to get things done, and this is no different. The event will take advantage of the 2 km walking trail located at the farm for people to walk and contribute to the remaining 3,740 km. There is also a virtual / remote option which will allow you to participate even if you cannot attend in person.
I am quite honoured to have Windreach Farm and members of Rotary Whitby Sunrise come together to help me complete my journey while also supporting ALS Canada and continuing to raise awareness about ALS. The event will stay open until the full distance has been completed. So, if you are able to attend we would love to see you. If you are not able to attend, or would like to participate remotely, that would be great as well. Please register at https://alslemonade.org. All the instructions and information can be found on this site. Please note that, if participating at Windreach Farm, there are no pets (service animals excepted) or bicycles allowed.
I hope to see you there on November the 8th or to hear your stories for those of you who are able to participate remotely, I would love to hear your stories of how you were able to help participate. Please feel free to post a comment as we all share in completing this cross-Canada journey together. If you would like to share pictures, please send them to me at myalschallenge@gmail.com. With your permission, I will include in a future post for everyone to share.
Thank you!
